Samantha is at the very end of her third trimester and Darrin is furious that she is still doing heavy-duty housework. His solution is to hire a maid to help Samantha with anything too strenuous for her condition.
After a number of interviews Samantha finally comes across Naomi, a very enthusiastic candidate but also a seemingly incompetent person. Samantha takes pity on her, however, and decides to give her the job.
On Naomi’s first night on the job the Stephens’s are having the Tate’s over for dinner. Samantha checks up on Naomi in the kitchen and walks in on what looks like a bomb site. Naomi is a nervous wreck and taking pity on her again Samantha uses magic to fix the disaster, also with the intent on saving her own dinner party.
Louise was so impressed with the way Naomi cooked for the Stephens’s that later that week, when Louise’s maid is unable to work a formal dinner party, she asks Naomi if she could stand in for the job even though what they actually ate was conjured up by Samantha. When Samantha hears of this she insists that they also attend the dinner so she can be there to keep on helping Naomi, but Larry makes it clear they’re not invited.
Back home Samantha’s plan is to periodically pop in by the Tate’s kitchen window and peep through to check up on Naomi and fix whatever she’s struggling with. As luck would have it Darrin eventually catches Samantha in the act but gives in to her antics when she starts pleading with him that neither Louise nor Naomi deserve to be in this mess.
During breakfast one morning Darrin complains about the terrible food Naomi served after being alone in the kitchen when she walks in to report her kitchen breakages. She adds up the figures at an impressive speed and this gives Samantha an idea to convince Darrin to put Naomi in the accounting department at McMann & Tate. Darrin is sold on the idea and manages to arrange the position.
