Fashion from the 1950's, whether it be formal or casual, is timeless. Take this simple box jacket for example. You can wear it with almost everything, cocktail dresses being my favourite.
For this piece I wanted to capture the most classic looks of box jackets from the 50's being kimono sleeves, upward facing bust darts, a round, collarless neckline and buttoned opening.
And because I wanted to stay with the theme of being able to wear the jacket as both casual and formal, I felt a neutral colour was best. Of course, I'm a sucker for printed lining, especially if the garment is in a solid colour. It gives a feeling of personal pleasure wearing something beautiful that only the owner is aware of.
