Beach dresses are so fun to make, especially in bold, colourful prints. Whether you wear them at the beach or at the weekend pool party they always grab attention in a stunning print.
Personally, I'm not a fan of wearing pink but I love working with it. You can make some really beautiful garments with the right shade.
The Inspiration
For this piece I didn't focus on any specific era. I drew inspiration from several, my favourite being with a gathered or ruched sweetheart neckline. And to add to the beach feel I made use of halter neck ties.

I don't have a mannequin so, to check the fit I modeled the prototype on myself according to my body shape and height.
I asked a friend to help model it for pictures. She's thinner and slightly taller than I am, but I never noticed exactly how much taller she is than myself until she put on the dress and I saw how short it was on her and I just loved that short length on her.
I'll admit it's just a tad skimpy to wear out and about regularly, but I do love the length of the hemline.

I have sizes S and M available in my store here.
Size L is available for preorder here.
