Moss crepe for the dress (the fabric has a lovely feel) and pongee lining for the sash (it was the only soft fabric I could find in the colour I was looking for).

Fabric placement

I cut a double layer of the fabric for the bodice. I couldn't find lining in the same colour as the dress, so I just thought, "Eh, what the hell. A double layer of the dress fabric won't kill".

Bodice darts.

Basting the sash in place.

Hemline

I shortened the pattern by 10cm so the hemline isn't too long below the knee and rather rests on the knee.

Attaching the back and front of the bodice lining.

Ta da!! The dress fits a girl sized 10-12 (I think). Doesn't the contrast sash look pretty against the lighter shade of the dress?

Enjoy a Buddy Holly track from the same year. I like to imagine a classic picture in my head of a girl wearing the dress and white gloves on a date in the malt shop with this playing in the background.
